Policies & Procedures

Eastern Washington University has a decentralized process for processing student complaints. 

  • Academic Integrity Issues - Dealt with through the Student Academic Integrity Policy - (Associate Vice Provost)
  • Academic Program Complaints - Dealt with differently depending on the academic program:
    • Accredited Programs have Student Handbooks which include a complaint process;
    • Non-accredited Programs (Appropriate Department Chair, College Dean, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs);
  • Bullying Complaints - dealt with through the  Bullying Prevention and Response Policy (EWU Policy 901-04)  - (Dean of Students or Immediate Supervisor or Human Resources, Rights and Risk as appropriate)
  • Disability Services Student Rights - Dealt with through Office of Disability Services found at http://access.ewu.edu/disability-support-services/srr (Director of Disability Services); 
  • Discrimination - Dealt with through the Discrimination, Sexual Harassment, Sexual Misconduct, Domestic Violence, Relationship Violence, Stalking, and Retaliation Policy (EWU 402-01) (Title IX Coordinator, ADA Coordinator and/or the Director of Equal Opportunity(EO)or Dean of Students);
  • Grade Appeals - dealt with through the Grade Appeal Policy and Procedures (EWU 303-24) (Appropriate Department Chair);
  • Sexual Harassment - Dealt with through the Discrimination, Sexual Harassment, Sexual Misconduct, Domestic Violence, Relationship Violence, Stalking, and Retaliation Policy (EWU 402-01) (Title IX Coordinator, and/or the Director of Equal Opportunity(EO) or Dean of Students);
  • Student Complaints against Faculty - (Appropriate Department Chair, College Dean, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs);
